Weeping Moon

The sun slips away
down past the horizon,
to sleep and get ready to
brighten another day.
As the sun slips down the sky
the moon slowly moves up
into the now night sky.
The moon weeps
as the everything below sleeps.
The moon looms above
cold and brightened only by the sun.
The moon late at night
is beautiful and bright.
Yet no one ever sees,
and the moon weeps.
They see the sun
bright and warm,
breaking through a storm.
